Improvements in openness, communication and efficiency
Over the next decade, Midland Metro Alliance will transform the transport links in Birmingham, and deliver a legacy that will contribute to the social and economic growth of the region. MMA is a large-scale, long-term collaboration of key industry partners tackling the city’s transport challenges. To provide the best, most varied expertise, and to ensure a low risk, structured, successful, affordable way of doing this, nine companies were chosen to form the Alliance. They’ll work within the MMA brand, over the next decade, pooling together their specialist resources to plan, design and construct the new tram extensions that will connect the Midlands.
The opportunity to work in a new way
MMA’s move to the iconic Grade II listed skyscraper, Alpha Tower presented an opportunity to work in a new way. The space needed to be friendly, light, flexible, open and inviting, providing quiet and social zones, and everything in-between.
We consulted with staff and identified a need for larger desk space, more storage, higher capacity and more diverse meeting opportunities and suitable rest zones. We created the interior architecture, developed the space plan, fine-tuned the interior design, consulted with the construction company, selected suitable products and materials for flooring, lighting, tea points and furniture and finally, delivered and installed all of the furniture. Timescales and budgets added to the challenge and made the successful completion of the project all the sweeter.
The client is delighted with the final result and have enjoyed the subsequent improvements in openness, communication and efficiency.
